Song #1

5:26 “Lucy At The Gym” by my new favourite Jill Sobule. You might have heard her collaboration with some other ladies against net netrality in the song “God Save The Internet“. She’s not quite purely independent as she’s had a hit in the past and had albums out with mainstream record companies. But I’d never heard of her, and really liked her tunes. Her tunes I feature are indie. Check her out on iTunes to sample/buy her great music. I really like her lyrics and poetic, yet sad, while funny turns of phrases.

Doug is my nextdoor neighbour.  My wife and I enjoy a good rapport with him.  We exchange pleasantries across the fence and keep an eye on each other’s house when on holiday. When (not if) my kids are playing football in the backyard, and their ball goes over the fence, he’s happy for them to climb over and get it.   That sort of thing.

This was the first time I’d ever heard about him being captured by the
Germans in "the War".

behind the scenes stuff here

Music-wise, I’ve got Tara Leigh Cobble providing some great “southern rock”.  Her website and it’s forums are great way to get a feel for the artist behind the music.  Check it out and say "hi" to her there.  I did and got a reply from her pretty quickly—-cool!

Suzie from Note For a Child is a fellow Cambridge resident who used to work as a medical doctor. You can hear clips of her and Daniel’s music on their website, and find out about their gigs and album.  They’ve got a great sound.

Maurice–from Cranfield, Bedfordshire–tells some great stories.
I think his voice is easy on the ears as well.

I found his stories compelling, rewarding and often funny!

The music on the show are songs that grabbed me the first time I heard them. We’ve got some “PodRock” as well as mellower music from an a fellow PodCaster. Oh yeah, the comedy clip made me laugh out loud!

An Early Memory
remembering an operation he had as a child (under local anesthesia!) warning for the squeemish
Teenage Fun
A light story set in Berlin, featuring a Yank, a slightly damaged Dodge & razor blades.

Special thanks to Rob Costlow for kindly allowing me to use his brilliantly thoughtful and unique piano music.  You hear it in the intro and outro, the song is "Family" from his CD "Sophmore Jinx".  Join me and buy it here.
